A contestant is shown the car for which she is playing and given seven one dollar bills. Contestant must then guess, in succession, the four digits that make up the price of the automobile. Each time the player makes a guess at a digit, the difference between the number that is guessed and the actual number is translated into dollars and subtracted from contestant's seven dollars.

Thus, if she thinks the first digit of the car is 7 but it is 5, 2 dollars are taken away. The contestant proceeds until either all four digits are played or contestant runs out of money. If all four digits are played and the contestant has at least one dollar remaining, the car may be purchased for one dollar. If there is any money remaining after the car is purchased, the contestant keeps the remaining dollars.
