Rich Fields was born in Bay Village, Ohio in November of 1960. He spent his early childhood growing up on the west side of Cleveland, in the rural town of Avon. In 1976, at the age of sixteen, Rich and his family moved to Clearwater Beach, Florida where he later graduated from Clearwater High School. He attended the University of Florida and received a degree in Broadcasting in 1983.
In 2000, and after more than 20 years as a major market radio personality, Rich returned to college and completed the Broadcast Meteorology Program at Mississippi State University. After an internship at weather hotspot, WFLA in Tampa, Florida Rich was hired as a television weatherman at CBS2, KPSP Palm Springs, CA.
In March of 2004, and after three years of doing weather in Southern California, Rich was hand selected by Bob Barker to be the new announcer of The Price is Right. Bob introduced Rich to the on-air audience on April 27th. 2004.
In 2005, while taping Game Show Marathon, Rich broke the world record for announcing the most differently titled game shows in a single season, at seven shows (The Price is Right, Beat The Clock, Match Game, Let's Make A Deal, Press Your Luck, Family Feud and Card Sharks). The previous record was five shows and was held by legendary announcer Johnny Olson.
In 2009 Fields was named "Best Game Show Announcer" for his work on The Price is Right. Rich has received numerous Addy awards for his work in commercial production and voice-over. He is also the recipient of the Red Barber Award for broadcasting excellence from the University of Florida.
In addition to appearing on the daytime and primetime version of The Price is Right, Rich has appeared on three network sitcoms including; The War At Home, How I Met Your Mother, and According to Jim. Rich has also appeared on the CBS soap operas The Young & The Restless and The Bold and The Beautiful.
Rich is a former cancer patient having survived testicular and lower lymphatic cancer. He is married to his wife Christine and they have a Pug named Cosmo.
