Agreed. You don't just can a well-loved announcer without some explanation to your viewers. More disturbing is how Kathy repeatedly ignores posts like this; in "Behind the Scenes...", she has ignored our posts four times. This reeks of an inability to provide a satisfactory answer.

Kathy was willing to respond to my initial rants at the very beginning of both major blog threads, so there's no excuse for having problems facing your critics this time...

    Hi Mike:
I'm very sad to hear of the departure of the BEST announcer that TPIR has had. I have had the privilege of viewing all 38 seasons of the show. I remember Johnny Olson all  the way to Rod Roddy. Believe me when I say that Rich Fields was the best of the lot.
Mike, can you explain what led up to this action?
I remember JD Roberto from a prior game show that involved contestants going through a mock-up of a variety store and winning prizes. He was good in that job, but not better than
Rich. I also remember Brad Sherwood, not even a close match to Rich Fields.
I really feel that you, as producer, owe the viewing audience an explanation. Please, won't you do that?
    Thanks Mike.

That would be elitism, TPIRAuthority. If Brad or Jeff sounds better than Rich, bring it on...and if we find someone better than them within a year, bring them on too! Just give me something better every time you change something...change the whole show, for all I care, as long as it's better.

This is (one)of the new announcers voice, JD Roberto.  I have heard his voice on other things, and its very grating.  I can' imagine hearing this all throughout a show.  OMG! I know the new season is going to "sound" horrid after hearing this.  Not to mention how bad the energy (and chemistry) etc. overall is going to be without the voice and face of the announcer we have grown to love.
And to be perfectly honest, this is just insulting to Rich and us viewers. To have added this voice onto one of Rich's shows is uncalled for.  You guys have no class. What would it have hurt to at least have waited until Rich's shows were finished before destroying one of our last shows with our beloved annoucners voice. Why did you have to ruin one of our last shows with him. I am watching only until the new season starts, and I've been recording all of Rich's shows for replay. I DO NOT want to hear anyone else on here.

I believe it's J.D. Roberto doing the promotional consideration stuff. Even though the 39th season taping just begin last week.

Did anyone see Monday's rerun (7/26/2010)? During the "promotional consideration provided by" before the second Showcase Showdown, it was NOT narrated by Rich. I'm guessing it was one of the guest announcers. Even "And now here's Drew Carey with our Showcase Showdown" was not narrated by Rich. I've gotten a small taste of what the guest announcers are going to be like, and I don't like what I'm hearing. I found it insulting that the new season hasn't started yet, and they're already putting the guest announcers on. Well, we'll see what happens with the new season.

Plus, Rich said in his statement that Drew had nothing to do with this.

Um... no one around here doubted Rich. And really, this news was released several days ago. Stop jumping to wild conclusions. Please?

Well, well well... looks like those of you who were "suspect" of Rich Fields statement about the producer Mike Richards saying they were changing from an experienced announcer, (which the show has always had for 38 years) to an "improv comedian", are now being shown his shocking statement was true. What in the world are you guys doing to this show? Drew Carey must surely be behind this too, as some of these guys are his old crew. Looks like we are headed towards "The Drew Carey All Star Comedy Hour of Price". Oh Dear.. its worse than I feared. :-( And hey Drew, I thought you "loved" Rich?
