Who would be best as next announcer?

NO ONE can replace Rich Fields, I'll say that right now. However, who do you think would be the best candidate for the next TPIR announcer? A lot of people have been mentioning Burton Richardson and the possibility of him coming on the show, but I don't know if I really favor him much.

@joacen:  I don't know about Burton.  I mean, he was great as a guest announcer for the CBS run as well as the 1994 Davidson run, but I may doubt he would return, even after Joey Fatone replaced him on Family Feud.

That would be pefect! I loved him on Hollywood Squares, and it would be nice to hear his great voice. Besides, Rod Roddy was a guest-announcer on HS in 2002 during the first Gameshow Week. It would only be fair for Shadoe Stevens to guest-announce TPIR, IMO.

Well, now we know who the new "announcers" are. I guess it really doesn't matter since they're changing the very essence of the show - the formula that made is successful for 38 years. Apparently we'll have less time for the games that have made the show what it is - and more time for unheard of bands no one wants to hear. Can't they just give a guitar away without showing some guy playing it? There was only ONE guest on this past season who, in my opinion, made the show more interesting and that was Buzz Aldrin. Mr. Aldrin will be in history books as long as there are people living on the Earth. As for the various bands, football and baseball players, travel channel hosts - forget it. The show is about the GAMES. Playing along with the contestants and rooting for them to win. Mr. Richards (Producer), watch Wheel of Fortune if you want to know how to produce a successful game show. The format has remained the same, they've just polished it a bit over the years, with subtle changes to improve the game. No clowns. Now country bands. No comedians. Every now and then they'll have soap stars or other TV personalities playing for charities. Maybe that would work on TPIR. Perhaps once a year you could have TV personalities play, not for charities, but for VIEWERS at HOME. "Hi, I'm Craig Ferguson and I'm playing for John Doe of Columbus, Ohio." Might be fun. But forget the BANDS. Stick to the games.

TPIR501: It is BECAUSE I am a true fan of The Price Is Right that I am here and say the things I say. People like you, on the other hand... are very annoying. I respect your opinions, and those of other traditionalists, but I think they are horribly flawed. I ask that you read my back-to-back posts in the thread, "Great job, TPIR staff!". They explain my position in depth, and explain why I think your opinions are horribly flawed.

I think the next announcer for the show should be Shadoe Stevens. He was from Hollywood Squares fame. What is your thought on this.

Dookar will you still be kissing fremantle medias but when the show gets taken off the air and we have nothing to watch but paid programing and a bunch of cackiling old crows?Dookar must be friends with sombody at fremantle or an employee of fremantle, because a true long time fan of The Price Is Right would never say the things you say.Do I think this is a bad change? YES! Do I think mike richards is the worst producer ever? YES!If The Price Is Right gets taken off the air will I BOYCOTT fremantle media and everything that has to do with fremantle media? YES!And if the show does not make to it's milestone which is season 40 we should all write a nice letter to fremantle media thanking them on destroying our show anf for getting it taken off the air. Will I watch seson 39 and give it a shot? Yes,but I already know I will not like it at all.

Who are you to speak for so many people on Rich's abilities, Dookar? From the looks of things, he has many fans who thought he was great. Your opinion is yours to make, but please refrain from speaking for others!

Since they went with Drew Carey, who resembles a young Bill Cullen, maybe they should be looking for someone who looks like Don Pardo or Johnny Olsen. If Let's Make A Deal doesn't last, how about Johnathan Mangum or Wayne Brady?
