Any news on Rich Fields?

I guess the rumor about Rich being fired from TPIR faded, but has anyone heard any official news about Rich? Is he staying on the show?

@Kirsten:  There is absolutely no reason to capitalize every first letter in your comments.  I've seen stuff like that on YouTube and it annoys the hell out of me.

It has been confirmed by TV Announcer Randy West and by the Admins. over at Golden Road.net that tryouts similar to the one following Rod Roddy's death will occur at the start of the season. Here is Randy's post http://gameshow.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=20408

Its plain to see that Rich has many fans. I am one as well. I have said my piece on this issue already in another thread, so won't repeat all the reasons I feel this would be a horrible mistake. But I will repeat this... if Rich has been let go from this show and does not return, I will no longer be watching. PERIOD!! As someone else said .... this will be one too many changes for me to endure,.. as a fan of the original show. It just will never be the same.

I love Rich and hope the bond is not broken. He is such a humble man and so is Drew. Kathy & Stan, please keep Rich. DD in VA!

No, Dookar.. I would not hold it against the show if Rich elected to make a change for himself. However, that is not the rumor and I highly suspect there is more to it than that. The rumor was that he had been either "let go",.. or "not renewed on his contract". (either way,.. somewhat same thing) If that is the case, I fear its all in accordance with their "new direction" that the show has been headed for the last couple seasons since the new EP came on board. And that is what I mean by saying if they choose to remove such an important part of the show, in favor of some other "new direction" or "fresh idea" for the show, .. then that will be the last straw for me. It will be one change,.. too many. I guess we will soon know.

Fan4ever: For all we know, Rich is in contract negotiations. Hypothetically, if that were the case, would you really hold it against the show if he declined to return for less than he wanted?

I sure hope that "no news is good news in this case". Because if not, and there is any other person other than Rich Fields standing on that stage announcing with Drew come next season, count me out as a viewer "FOR GOOD". I have not like hardly any of the changes to the show that the new EP has made since coming on board. But, I have stayed due to my loyalty to the Rich and the show, and I did grow to like Drew. However, if they dump Rich,... I'll never watch again. They will have taken away the last bit of originality that kept the show still feeling somewhat like the old regime. I could hear Rich's voice, see his smile and wave to Drew, and still feel I was watching TPIR. Without Rich's voice and the energy he brings to that show, it will never be the same. I am holding my breath, and praying we still have our beloved announcer, and show that had finally gotten into a groove. If not, I think someone be very sorry.
