The Price is Right Photo Experience

by adam_sandler, Monday, October 12, 2009

A week or so ago we launched “The Price is Right Photo Experience” or as Drew has anointed it: “Price Is Right: The Ride”. No matter what you call it, it is a great addition for those of you who come out to Television City to see a taping here at CBS.

We here at “The Price is Right” truly love our fans – without you out there, we are simply not here. One of the other unique things about our fans is that not only can they love the show, they can be a part of the show – after all, it’s our fans who are the nine contestants called to “Come on Down!” every day of the week. We can’t tell you enough how much we appreciate the effort you all make to come to a taping, and how grateful we are that you can spend most of the day with us. With that in mind, we are always tinkering with how to make the wait outside the studio shorter and more enjoyable.

Once you arrive here at CBS and come into our audience waiting area, you’ll have the opportunity to take your picture in front of a “green screen” where we’ll electronically insert a background photo of the Wheel, Plinko, or Cliffhangers (the Yodely Guy game) behind you. You’ll be given a card instructing you to go to priceisright.com/fanphotos where you can retrieve your photo, which will have the date your show is going to be on the air on the bottom. You can then post the photo to sites like Facebook and MySpace, or e-mail it to everyone in your address book and tell them you’re going to be on TV! The catch – none… you can do all that for free.

We hear stories all the time about people making connections and lifelong friends out on our line, and now we have a way to send everyone home with a souvenir of the experience. And because it can’t be said enough… thanks for coming to see “The Price is Right”!

Im glad to hear, Mike, that you guys havent had to hire to many audiences. Also, I think is an excellent idea. I like how the new regime is bringing The Price is Right into the 21st Century.

Quote: "Actually, audiences have been the best they have been in years" Answer: Certainly not the home audience. They've had their say via the remote control. Look at the numbers. Quote: "As you know, we have people lined up down the street waiting to come to tapings" Answer: Yes you do. News flash Mr. Richards, they've been lining up and down the street for a long time. You are making it sound like there was nobody waiting on line in previous years and now all of a sudden people are lining up now. Less people line up now and people don't have to get in line very early in the morning to get a decent seat. Quote: "We very rarely hire people to fill in the audience" Answer: I heard last season the show was burning through money like gasoline buying seat fillers spending 5 figures per week.

Actually, audiences have been the best they have been in years! As you know, we have people lined up down the street waiting to come to tapings. We very rarely hire people to fill in the audience. This happens when a large group drops out of coming to the show or sometimes during holidays when people are busy. It is a better solution than canceling a taping. To answer your question, paid people would be able to have their picture taken.

Good to know, I will make note of this when I go see Price after I graduate.

Well, you need something to lure people in when audiences are dwindling. Do paid audience members get the opportunity to this as well?
