So anyway...

Well, Season 38 started and there’s nothing you can do about it now. The set’s going to be this way for a long time. And the intro isn’t going back either. Those are the two biggest changes. The set and the intro.

The set is changed because we wanted more room at home base (the area next to the turntable). We didn’t want the showcase contestants to be flat up against a wall with one of them having a giant thick seam coming up out of their head. So there’s that.

The intro to the show was changed because we wanted to get to the “come on downs” quicker. I also asked to not be called “The Star of The Price Is Right!” I’m just the host. The contestants and the prizes are the stars.

For a while, a friend or someone would ask me what’s new at The Price Is Right and I’d start to tell them about the new set and such. Then it would always trail off because really, there’s a war on. And it’s football season. And my kid wants to start swim lessons but I was too late to sign him up so now what do I do? It’s like really telling someone how you’re feeling when they ask how you’re feeling. They don’t care. It’s just small talk. They have problems of their own.

So now, when people ask what’s new at Price I just say “Oh, lots of things. You should check it out. It’s been really good lately.” Then I change the subject as quickly as I can. (To something about themselves, if possible, since I’m all about Winning Friends and Influencing People.)

The changes are nice though. I love the extra room at home base when I’m doing Any Number or one of those turntable games. And I love hearing Rich say “Here’s Your Host!”

So... there you go. Not to make too big deal about it, but it’s a new season. We have a new set and a new intro and well, just lots of cool new things. New leaves on the tree. Same old tree, but new leaves.

But enough about me and my job. How are you?

I've been a fan of TPIR since 1989 (I was 3) when Bob was the host (probably around Season 17 or 18); he had grey hair and the Turntable/Home Base had green floors. I've even had dreams about the show growing up. I would even draw pictures of the set and the pricing games--and even the dollar sign that makes up part of the logo! I'm 23 now and still watch the show--and I get excited when someone wins $25,000 in the Showcase Showdown or both Showcases. The clanging and whooping sound effects along with the sound of the crowd cheering and applauding wildly can really make someone's day! I know for a fact that Studio 33 is where the party's been at for 38 years and just...never...stops! You're doing a great job hosting! I think Season 38 is your best season yet, Drew!

Hi there all, I'm a big fan of the price is right i watch it almost everyday at 12:00 while eating lunch sense im not working, i think drew is the best host for the show, i love the way he blends so well with the contestants and his comedy make me laugh alot LOL, and i really enjoy watching how the people react when they first go on stage or even get there names called, lol....BUT there is on thing i disagree with, the some of the contestants spin the wheel with no effort at all to what looks like to me trying to CHEAT, i saw it two days in a row now, i think the rule that the wheel has to go around once (1) should move up to 1 1/2 rotations or even 2 rotations, so far all of the people i have seen try that cheating method did not win anything, but if i do see it happen i with be realllllyyy upset, so please consider the new rule i think it is only fair for everybody.

The way Rich exaggerates the last word in his sentences is like fingernails on a blackboard! I have actually muted the sound so I won't have to listen to him say KAAARRRRR! Has anyone noticed that the third player in line to spin the wheel (and is the biggest winner) seem to invariably win the showcase slot?

One of the things I don't like, Drew, is how you're introduced with "Heeeeeeere's your HOST!" -- it reminds me of the crapfest CBS summer series "Gameshow Marathon" (2006), when Ricki Lake was introduced that way by Rich Fields. Part of me wonders if Rich will say "Rickiiiiiiiiiiiiii Lake!" afterward -- that's not a good thing, and should be changed. Gotta admit, however, with the seeming whitewash of the Barker era (Make Your Mark is dead {because you screwed up and nobody wanted to tell you so}, Bargain Bar is all-but-dead), the fact that the "Bob Barker Studio" line managed to stay is pretty amazing. You've been doing a stellar job, Drew -- keep it up!

I like the new intro, but, I don't like the "Here's Your Host" part at the end. Here's how I'd introduce you, Drew: "Here's the HOST of "The Price is Right", Drew Carey." Hearing "Here's Your Host" reminds me of the way Burton Richardson does it on "Family Feud". Besides, Burton introduced Doug Davidson as the HOST of the "New" Price is Right. I just think that Rich Field could do it the way I suggested on here. I think it would be tons better.

I think your best chance of being picked is by being african american. 95% white audience, 50% african american contestants.

I never miss an episode, and yes, it does seem like you have "a better chance" to be picked if you are with a group or wearing some crazy shirt. Before the current war, military people seemed to have an advantage as well. I assume this is all for television ratings on who they think people would like to see. Although I live in FL, I have been to TPIR 3 times (never called though). My Question though is..........how come on the show it always advertises how to get tickets? I never had tickets when I went. One time I even got the 3rd row (so it is not like if you have tickets you get better seats), Everyone just gets seated in order as they come into the studio. So, why advertise for the tickets? You get to go in the show simply by showing up "EARLY". Is it possible that these are the only names used to be called down of you have a ticket ahead of time?
