Farewell and Welcome...

Farewell and Welcome...

As you may know, we recently said goodbye to our Director, Rich DiPirro.

During his nearly 2 ½ years with the show, Rich brought not only his immense talents as a Director, but also a fresh enthusiasm to the show that incorporated many retro elements that he refined to a 21st century look; plus a technical expertise and an eye for the aesthetic - the combination of which the show never had before.

So now we welcome Michael Dimich to the Director’s chair. Michael brings with him a wealth of experience and an incredible resume that spans many, many genres of television including  "Politically Incorrect," "MadTV," "The Wayne Brady Show," and "Ellen" - just to name a few...oh, and did we mention he's an Emmy award winner too?

We are thrilled to have him on board, and you can look forward to seeing his first shows on the air beginning this week, and then of course, when Season 40 starts up in mid-September.

Producer Adam Sandler Talks About "Priceless Giveaways"

by adam_sandler, Wednesday, October 20, 2010

You may have noticed toward the end of last season we had a few items up on the site we called "Priceless Giveaways"...last season it was an MLB All-Star baseball hat, an autographed Lonestar CD, and an autographed tote bag from 'The Bold and the Beautiful.'

We got such a great response from you guys that we've got even more coming this season! Hopefully you entered for your chance to win an autographed hat from Paula Creamer that was available last week, and this week it's a subscription to Sailing Magazine - and there's a lot more to come!

We think that in addition to being the one-stop-shop for everything that is "The Price is Right," priceisright.com should also be about winning prizes...our goal is that every time we give something away to the audience, we can give everyone watching at home a chance to win one too - just because you couldn't be here with us that day doesn't mean you have to miss out!

So keep watching - you never know where a "Priceless Giveaway" is going to crop up during the show, and keep checking the site - there may even be some giveaways that we don't mention on-the-air!!

Good luck!
-Adam

Kathy Greco Makes a Difficult Decision

by kathy_greco, Friday, October 08, 2010
Kathy Greco

Yes, it's true. I've decided to leave "Price."

I love "The Price Is Right," and not only feel that I am leaving the show in a good place, but I am leaving it in very good hands. We have made many changes over the past few years, but the soul of the show remains intact. We have a fun host, the same great games that we’ve always had, and have added some fun new ones, and that will always continue.  I think the prizes are better than ever, and our staff will continue to find cutting edge electronics, the latest in fashion, and unique and desirable trips for you to take.

In fact, I am looking forward to taking some of those great trips I've been drooling over for so long. I'm excited to spend time with my husband, my family and my friends, and looking forward to finding out what's around the corner for me.

I told Mike I would be happy to come back for a day or two (maybe even a week) here and there if they needed help, but this staff is so good that I know everything will run smoothly. (There's always a little part of you that hopes you're needed!)

I am very appreciative to Mike, the show, and Fremantle for their support. I just celebrated my 35th anniversary on "Price," and I truly consider everyone here my "other family." That is why is was such a difficult decision to make, but I know it is the right one.

Thanks for your good wishes and I’ll be talking to you soon.

-Kathy

Kathryn's Adventure To Contestant's Row!

by website_editor, Friday, November 05, 2010

Kathryn had a big win day here at The Price Is Right! But you won't believe how close she almost came to not being able to "Come on Down!" She was nice enough to share her story with us!

And, you can watch her prize-winning performance right here!

On Monday, September 13th, after two requests to put off jury duty, I headed for the Ft. Worth courthouse thinking I'll be out of there by 10:00 a.m. Then... I saw the 500 people who showed up, from which they picked a jury that eventually included Juror #23 - that’s me.

It was a Capital Murder case, so prosecutors and defense attorneys spent a long day asking potential jurors serious questions, and just before they sent us home, the defense attorney said, "Hey #23, do you have an issue with the length of the trial, because earlier you asked how long it might take?”

I responded, "YES, I have an issue, I have to be on ‘THE PRICE IS RIGHT’ next Monday to win my husband a car; it's on my list of things to do!"

As the courtroom broke out in laughter, the defense attorney said, "You're kidding, right?”

I was not kidding! Thirty minutes later, after hearing #1, #5, #19, #22, #30, #41, #55, #60, #62, #65, and #68 called, I was about to let out a major sigh of relief, when presiding judge Mike Thomas said, “and last but not least... Juror #23, COME ON DOWN!“

The courtroom erupted in laughter but it was no joke - I was on the jury and elected foreman! Luckily for me, the wheels of justice didn’t get stuck in the mud, and by Friday, September 17th, we had reached a verdict and I was on my way to prepare for ‘THE PRICE IS RIGHT’!

On Monday, September 20th, with a murder trial behind me, and sporting my homemade ‘I LOVE DREW’ hat, and ‘DREW ROCKS’ t-shirt, with 21 of my closest friends, I was ready! During the selection process, I appealed to Stan the producer, “You've got to put me on the show because there's a judge in Ft. Worth, Texas that thinks I fibbed to get out of jury duty saying I was going on ‘THE PRICE IS RIGHT’, and if that’s not compelling enough, consider the pity card - I survived cancer!” Yes, it’s true - in January I had half my nose removed due to Melanoma.

Presto, Juror #23 became Contestant #234.

Game on,  I won on contestant row bidding $500 on beauty products, actual retail price was $523, moving on to the showcase.

The rest is history… now I’m the fiscally astute winner of a Lexus Hybrid for a very happy husband. Guess I can tick that off my list!

So, there’s my ‘The Price Is Right’ story!
